How to Draw Mickey Mouse Step by Step for Kids

Both my girls absolutely love to color and draw.  I must admit they get it from there father, because he not only is an amazing artist, he even taught art having trained to be an art teacher.  Once, I actually saw him teacher our young niece how to draw Mickey Mouse (stay tuned below to learn how to do this for yourself).

God bless, how artistic he is and let me tell you I have seen him create over the years now and still am amazed at his talent.  But I know he has been drawing and creating from the time he was a small boy.  So, I know he learned how at a very young age.

I was recently contacted by Kathleen Wilson, who recently started her own website where she creates drawing tutorials at We Draw Animals , to help kids learn to draw.

So without further ado, learn how to teach young children to draw Mickey Mouse with Kathleen's help below.

Almost every kid on this great planet we call home loves to draw! It is a fun, creative, healthy activity for people of all ages. One of the first things we learn to do before writing numbers and letters and such is to draw. From scribbles to stick people all children teach themselves art at a young age. Once they reach school age their pictures begin to acquire more detail and more definition.

Art is one of the many things that are well described by the old saying that "practice makes perfect". The more art you create the better you become. Some kids and even adults think drawing is hard and takes some kind of magical skill that most of us don't possess, but thankfully that is not true.

Drawing is easy and anyone can do it if you just take the time to learn the proper way.

Now follow below to draw Mickey Mouse step by step:

How to Draw Mickey Mouse in 8 Simple Steps

How to Draw Mickey Mouse

  1. Draw one big circle and lines that cross the center of the circle.

  2. Now, draw three small circles that overlap the bottom part of the big circle.

  3. Next, draw two medium circles that overlap the top part of the big circle.

  4. Then, draw one big oblong shape below the middle horizontal line. Draw two medium oblong shapes above the line and draw two small oblong shapes inside the 2 medium oblong shapes.

  5. Use a black marker to outline the parts of Mickey's face, eyes nose and mouth.

  6. Continue to outline the rest of Mickey's face. Erase all the pencil shapes.

  7. Use a black marker to fill in the color of Mickey's ears, head nose and eyes.

  8. Finish Drawing Mickey Mouse.

Whatever you do don't give up! Have FUN!!!

Just remember even the greatest artists had to start at the beginning and learn how to create art so don't ever give up on yourself. It may take a while to master drawing but the end results are worth the effort. Once you have mastered the basic principles of drawing you can learn to do wonderful things like shading to show where the light source is, crosshatching to give texture to your pictures and shadowing to show depth.

When pencils are a second nature you can move on to more permanent mediums like colored pencils, pens, pastels, crayons, chalk and paint.  There is no limit to the fascinating things you can learn to make once you learn the basics of pencil and eraser drawing.
